After writing, recording, releasing and touring Nothing Good Gets Away we were pretty burnt out. We took a bit of time away from Bouts but after a few months we got back together to decide what to do next. We concluded that we wanted to write some more tunes but this time we wanted to strip everything back and keep the songs simple and immediate. We also wanted them to be short.
After a few weeks we had 5 songs that we felt we could make into a solid EP. In the intervening time between writing, recording and eventually releasing these tracks Barry moved to London and then on to Laos. Niall followed suit to London a few months later. Despite all of this we got the tracks together and released the EP on 29th February 2016.
To promote the EP we produced two videos and redesigned our Bandcamp, Soundcloud and other social pages. I came up with a design featuring a variety of brightly coloured shapes, each one representing one of the tracks. I produced artwork for each track on the streaming services and also for a limited edition cassette release that came out on US label Weiner Records.
