As previously mentioned Bouts are big fans of music videos. They’re a great medium. Having produced our own videos for a long time we wanted to do something special for Pliable Me, one of the singles off our album. We wanted something to catch people’s attention and so we started looking around for people to do something creative for us. Enter Spiceburger, a directorial duo from Dublin. They have previously done great videos for No Monster Club, Young Wonder and Sounds of System Breakdown. We had a meeting, they had a concept. We initially baulked a little but the more we thought about it the more it seemed to make sense. It would definitely get people’s attention and it was something we’d never seen before.
The resulting NSFW video launched with an exclusive on Noisey, Vice’s music site. We also subsequently got coverage on Broadsheet, Nialler9, SpinFM, State.ie, Thumped, Chunk.ie, Harmless Noise and loads more. It also recently passed the 50,000 views mark across all it’s different locations.
Here’s a little bit of what Spiceburger had to say about it
“To compliment the song we wanted to make a triumphant celebration of real, messy, goofy sex.
It was challenging getting this done on a small budget. We shot on a dull, Dublin Monday with the help of a dedicated and up for it cast and crew. It’s something we’ve not seen Irish music videos attempt before as we’re still a wee bit conservative over here. Hopefully the explicit nature of the end result is balanced by out by its sweetness.”
