Euro 2024 was supposed to be England’s moment. They went in as strong favourites having gone far in the preceding tournaments and even though some of the results leading up to the kick-off in June were patchy there was the feeling they would come good in the end.
To tap into the fervour around this feast of football in Germany Paddy Power were offering free bets on all the England games and looking to build the hype amongst fans with a campaign that got people energised about the tournament as a whole.
To do that we (yet again) enlisted Peter Crouch and sent him (through the wonders of props and Photoshop) on a cultural immersion experience in Germany.
Crouch plays the role of both willing German-wannabe and passionate England fan throughout the campaign depending on the messaging and we also shot a large number of fans that we could use to represent the other Nations that were competing.
We then housed all these characters together in a Paddy Power themed German beer tent to give a further nod to the hosts.
